Mag. art. Jana Drhová
Jana comes from a noted family of violin teachers. She started to play the piano spontaneously at the age of three. After two years of individual experimenting, she became a student of ZUS in Ceske Budejovice. Between 1988 - 1990, she took private lessons with Dr. Jaromir Kriz in Prague. In 1993 she passed the entrance examination and was admitted to the Prague Conservatory. In 1996 Jana and her brother Mikuláš became overall common winners in the International Radio Competition Concertino Praga and were awarded the Helena Karaskova Prize.
During this period, she appeared as guest soloist in numerous concerts and major festivals in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria and Germany and also performed with the South Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Ceske Budejovice and Japan Youth Symphony Orchestra. Subsequently, Jana made several recordings for the Czech Television, Czech Radio, the Classic FM Radio Station and Radio Deutsche Welle. In 1999, she graduated from the class of Prof. František Maxian at the Prague Conservatory. In the course of her studies at the Conservatory she and her brother were participating in master courses held by prominent masters, such as Prof. Bøetislav Novotný, Prof. Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Yefim Bronfman and Isaac Stern.
In the years 2000 - 2003 she studied at the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague in the class of Doc. Vera Kopecka. In 2003, Jana passed the entrance examination at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien and was admitted for the field of study Klavierkammermusik in the class of Prof. Avedis Kouyoumdjian. In 2007, she received her second degree and together with her brother they released their first „Drhaduo“ CD. In June 2009, she graduated from the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. At present, she is giving concerts and preparing her next CD.
Mag.art. Mikuláš Drha
Mikulas comes from a noted family of violin teachers. He started to play the violin at the age of four. First he was taught by his mother and later by his father. In 1995, after sucessfully passing the entrance exams to the Prague Conservatory, he studied with Doc. Jindrich Pazdera. In 1996, Mikulas and his sister Jana became overall common winners in the International Radio Competition Concertino Praga and were awarded the Helena Karaskova Prize.
In the course of their studies at the conservatory, they were participating in master courses held by prominent masters, such as Prof. Bøetislav Novotný, Prof. Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Yefim Bronfman and Isaac Stern. Further private studies he undertook with Prof. Bretislav Novotny and in 2002 was accepted at the Universitat für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna in the class of university Professor Jan Pospichal, (1. Konzertmeister Wiener Symphoniker) under whose tutorship he graduated with "1. Konzertfachdiplom" in 2005. In October 2005, he transfered to the class of Univ. Prof. Rainer Küchl (1. Konzertmeister Wiener Philharmoniker) and at the same time commenced his studies with Prof. Jela Špitkova at the Akademia Umenia of Banska Bystrica from where he graduated in June 2006. In March 2006 he transfered to the class of Prof. Jela Špitkova in Vienna.
During his studies in the years 1999 – 2009 he played in the following Orchestras: "Archi Boemi" - Prof. Hynek Farkaè, "Musika Bohemika" - Jaroslav Krèek, "Main Kammerorchester" - Jan Polívka, "Wiener Symphoniker" - Vladimir Fedosejev, "Vienna Classical Players“ - Martin Kerschbaum, "Webern Symphonie Orchester" - Pierre Boulez, Leo Plettner, Sascha Goetzel, Ricardo Muti. In 2007, he and his sister released their first „Drhaduo“ CD. In March 2009, he graduated from the Vienna Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst.
At the present time, Mikulas is giving concerts and working on his next CD.
